Dr. Van Wyngaarden started her health care career as a registered nurse. She graduated from the Mohawk College School of Nursing in 1986. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Henderson Hospital in Hamilton from 1987 to 1996.
Dr. Van Wyngaarden obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1995 from the University of Waterloo. She entered into private practice initially at the University of McMaster Medical center, and in the year 2000, she opened her current practice in Freelton, Ontario.
Dr. Van Wyngaarden is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She has held a position as a part-time clinical supervisor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, as well as volunteer position on their curriculum review committee. Dr. Van Wyngaarden has volunteered at the F.I.S.H. eye clinic in Kingston, Jamaica. She is affiliated with the TLC laser center. She holds a certificate in Advanced Ocular Diseases and Therapeutics.
Dr. Van Wyngaarden was raised in Flamborough on Safari Road. She enjoys multiple hobbies including hiking, golf, dog walking, gardening, and multiple crafts. Dr. Van Wyngaarden lives in Freelton with her husband- Jeff and pet dog. She feels very privileged to both live and provide health care in such an outstanding community.
