Dr. Alfano has practiced optometry in a variety of capacities since his graduation from New England College of Optometry in 2002, including completion of multiple internship programs and a residency specializing in ocular disease treatment and management. Acquired from his years of experience with patient care, Dr. Alfano maintains partnerships with local ophthalmologists and continues to co-manage ocular conditions requiring surgical interventions such as cataracts, retinal disease, diabetes, and glaucoma, as well as laser and all other forms of vision correction.
Additionally, with myopia on the rise and an ever-increasing need for reducing possible complications from a lifetime of near-sightedness, Dr. Alfano is now directing his attention to controlling myopia progression in children with treatments ranging from a simple eyedrop regimen to specially-designed contact lenses. He also has developed skills in prescribing scleral contact lenses to treat those with vision deficits resulting from keratoconus, irregular corneas, poor surgical outcomes and severe dry eye. His added interest in sports vision and background in kinesiology has also revealed a natural affinity for fitting patients of all ages, prescriptions and lifestyle needs.
Dr. Alfano is a proud member of the Carlisle Optimist Club and supports local businesses and charitable causes whenever possible. He finds it a privilege to be born and raised in Hamilton and to reside in Flamborough with his wife and Shi-poo and looks forward to each day that he can help provide much needed eye care to his and surrounding communities.
